Seatbelts save lives, and attorneys in Utah and Las Vegas are reminding people to buckle up. The reminder comes after a heartbreaking accident involving both states. If you have been in an accident in Salt Lake City or Utah County contact a Utah car accident lawyer, or if the accident happened in Nevada then call a Las Vegas injury lawyer for help.
Three people were transported to hospitals in Las Vegas and Utah after being thrown from a car while traveling on highway 59 in Washington County, Utah. Neither the driver, nor the injured passengers were wearing seatbelts. The 7-month-old infant who was properly secured in a car seat remained in the vehicle, and did not have any apparent injuries.
The accident happened when a driver rolled the vehicle after attempting to pass several vehicles on the highway. While trying to pass the other vehicles, the passing lane ended and the driver tried to get out the way of oncoming traffic and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle left the road, went through sagebrush, and rolled several times before stopping on its roof.
The 23-year-old driver was flown to University Medical Center in Las Vegas. The 13-year-old passenger was taken by ambulance to Dixie Regional Medical Center and later University Medical Center. The 16-year-old passenger was transported to Dixie Regional Medical Center and had a broken femur and head laceration.
