Abby is a junior associate attorney at our law firm’s San Antonio office. She primarily assists attorney Gerrit Schulze with the commercial litigation matters. In 2017 Abby relocated to San Antonio with her husband, a native Texan. She is originally from rural Tennessee where she comes from a line of row crop and dairy farmers.

Abby received a B.S. in Political Science and a B.A. in English from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, where she graduated summa cum laude and received the Outstanding Graduating Political Science Student Award. She then received her JD from William & Mary Law School in Williamsburg, Virginia. In law school, she worked for the Virginia Coastal Policy Center and served as a Notes Editor on the William & Mary Environmental Law and Policy Review. She was a graduate research fellow who worked for the Center for Comparative Legal Studies and Post-Conflict Peacebuilding (CLSPCP). Through the CLSPCP, she completed projects for international organizations and foreign governments. She also worked for non-profit organizations in Kosovo, Virginia, and Washington, D.C.

Prior to her time at Shumway Van, Mrs. Natividad advised two judges on all pending civil matters at the Richmond Circuit Court in Richmond, Virginia.

This experience gave her broad exposure to trial and a variety of civil matters including administrative appeals, commercial litigation, family law, personal injury, and wills and estates. It also gave her an in-depth understanding of the practice of law from the court’s perspective.

Prior to law school, Abby worked at a financial advising firm in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where she opened brokerage and retirement accounts for individual and institutional clients. She also assisted with a multi-million-dollar transfer of assets during a broker-dealer transition.

During her free time, Abby enjoys exploring new restaurants, museums, parks, and cities with her husband. She also enjoys biking, hiking, tennis, reading, and writing.
