Las Vegas Bankruptcy Attorneys Note Changes to the Bankruptcy Courts

The United States Bankruptcy Court District of Nevada made several changes for the new year. If you have a bankruptcy case in Las Vegas these changes will likely influence you.

One of the first changes you will notice if you visit the bankruptcy court is that there are now kiosks outside of each courtroom rather than the old court calendars. The new kiosks provide access to the court calendars through the use of a touch screen.

The kiosks allow you to search by Judge or debtor’s name through simply following the prompts on the screen. The kiosks also provide maps to help guide you to your assigned courtroom. Las Vegas bankruptcy attorneys think these changes will help better streamline the bankruptcy process.

Another change is to the revised local rules that went into effect on January 1, 2013. You can view a redline version of the rule changes on the court’s website. One revision of note is that a partnership must now submit evidence of the unanimous consent of all general partners or proof that the partnership agreement permits other than unanimous consent, when filing a voluntary petition.

Additionally, the Bankruptcy Court is now offering a free e-mail subscription service and RSS feed that you can sign up for at the court website.

Hopefully these changes will make the bankruptcy Las Vegas process more efficient for debtors and attorneys.
